Pavillon de la Ménara

West of Marrakech, the Menara gardens spread a vast olive grove around a large basin dating from the Almohad era, built to irrigate the surrounding orchards. On its bank stands the pavilion built in the 19th century under the Alaouite dynasty, once used as a retreat residence for sultans. Its reflection in the water, with the snow-capped Atlas Mountains as a backdrop for much of the year, makes it one of the city's most photographed views. Access to the gardens and olive grove is free; only entry to the pavilion itself is paid, offering a closer look at its interior architecture.
